Womxn of Color face Sexism, Racism, Colorism, and other mountainous prejudices on a daily basis. This community has often been told to be “strong” and shoulder the burden of standing on the frontlines for many causes. I want this community, my community, to stand on the front line for our mental health and well being. It’s time we put ourselves first, so that we can better serve our purpose.
We deserve to feel feminine and to be soft. We deserve love and tenderness. We hurt and deserve healing.
It’s also important to note that many popular self-help gurus don't look like the diverse communities that they serve (or that needs service) . This leads to advice that doesn’t cover the full spectrum of adversities experienced by marginalized communities. It’s important to have representation in this area so that one can be free to fully journey to self discovery in a safe and nonjudgmental community that not only recognizes our differences but celebrates them. A community that understands that hurdles to mindfulness because we live a similar shared experience.
